License

Licensing

design.pointsav.com and the app-privategit-design engine that runs it draw on two different licenses, plus a commercial grant for customers who need it. This page explains all three in one place.

Server source

FSL-1.1-ALv2 — source-available, converts to Apache-2.0 automatically.

The self-hostable server (app-privategit-design) ships under the Functional Source License, version 1.1, Apache-2.0 Future License (FSL-1.1-ALv2). You may use, copy, modify, and redistribute the source for any purpose other than offering a competing product or service built on it. Two years after each release, that release automatically converts to a full Apache-2.0 grant — no action required, no re-licensing step.

Design tokens

Apache-2.0 — unconditional, from day one.

The token set, component recipes, and research documents in this repository (pointsav-design-system) are licensed Apache-2.0 with no delay and no use restriction — the same terms the tokens have carried since they were first published.

Commercial tier

Skip the two-year window with a PointSav Commercial (FSL) grant.

Customers who need to build a competing product or service on the FSL-licensed server source before its two-year conversion date will be able to buy a PointSav Commercial (FSL tier) grant — a per-release Order Form that lifts the FSL's Permitted-Purpose restriction early. This does not change the source license itself — the GitHub source stays FSL-1.1-ALv2; the grant would be a separate commercial permission layered on top, for the purchaser only. Self-service purchase via the PointSav software marketplace is planned; contact PointSav directly in the meantime.
